01 about
Mishaya Miles, also known as mooshibeanz online, is an emerging self-taught visual artist born and based in South Australia. On graduating high school in 2020 she receive the Academic Award in Visual Arts and now at 20 is studying for a Bachelor of Science majoring in Animal Biology at Flinders University while continuing to pursue her love of creating. She works predominantly in watercolours, gouache, and clay, however, her range constantly expands as she experiments with new mediums and methods to create her visions. She had a feature in the Artistcloseup Magazine in April 2023 and her gouache piece, 'Wouldn't it be Nice?', was a FINALIST in the Onkaparinga Youth Recognition Awards Art Competition
Growing up surrounded by the beautiful ecology of the Onkaparinga region, she has always gained much inspiration from the natural world's beauty. Another passion that informs her art is her love for science and philosophy, and most of all the human experience. By combining these sources of creativity, the resulting art is full of vibrant worlds and people full of colour, emotion and life, with thoughtful undertones that prod at what it means to be a sentient being in an unforeseeable and unforgivable world full of complexity and beauty. It is a mixture of painting for fun and painting with a purpose.
